Adobe GREENSTAR BLOX® (10"x 14"x 4")

GREENSTAR BLOX® The origin of the adobe block can be traced to the ancient Egyptian societies, and has been popularized in many regions of the world including several states in the southwestern United States . Adobe, meaning "mud-brick", are exactly that: A brick formed of soil, clay and sun-dried to produce a 10" x 14" with varying thicknesses. The advantages of adobe are it's ability to maintain a cool temperature due to the thermal mass of the brick. The down side of earthen adobe is it's low compressive strength.

GREENSTAR BLOX has adapted the adobe size into our production because of the simplicity of the construction. By possessing a much higher compressive strength (3,000 psi; the minimum strength requirement for concrete) as well as a more stabilized composition,  GREENSTAR BLOX is a excellent alternative for earthen adobe construction. At a fraction of the weight, GREENSTAR BLOX can ease the construction process, ultimately allowing more courses to be laid with less energy exerted.
The size alone makes GREENSTAR BLOX a extremely versatile building product, suitable for many applications in addition to new home construction. GREENSTAR BLOX can be laid to produce a 10 or 14 inch wall thickness which results in high thermal mass.  A higher thermal mass produces a greater R-value factor which yields increased energy savings.
