My name is Zach Rabon and I am the developer and founder of the Blox® Building System. Blox® Building System is a new and exciting product in the construction industry but, before we get to the product itself, let me tell you a little more about myself and how the product was developed. My father, Kent Rabon, was a custom homebuilder throughout Texas when I was a child. I grew up playing and helping my father on various construction sites and noticed how much construction waste was going into the already overflowing landfills. I thought that there must be a different way of building that produces less waste, utilizing eco-friendly materials. When I entered Texas Tech University, my studies were ecology and conservation of natural resources. Through my continuing education, I realized even more the need for everyone to do their part in conserving our natural resources. After graduation, I settled in Mason, TX, where I partnered with my father in home building. Now, back in the construction business, I wanted to utilize more renewable materials with less waste.
While still working with my father, I was given the opportunity to branch off and begin working with residential and commercial concrete projects. I was immediately intrigued with concrete in its enormous strength, ease of use, and the abundance of the materials. Continuing my fascination with concrete, I purchased a Ready-Mix plant in Mason, TX. This was the start of Mason-Ready-Mix, and thus the inception of Blox® Building System. I quickly learned how challenging the logistics of a concrete business was. The business needed better processes to utilize its equipment and labor force to generate new revenue. Soon afterward, I was introduced to Clyde Curry, of Marathon, TX. Clyde had experimented with, and gathered data about, the properties of cellulose fibers. Through our collaboration, we began to develop a new building material utilizing renewable cellulose, natural additives, and cement. Our development team continues to research using new technologies and materials as they become available, advancing an already great product. |
